The Voyageur Trail Association (VTA) vision is to work with volunteers and partner organizations to build a continuous wilderness-style hiking trail from Sudbury through Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay, a distance of some 1,100 km paralleling the rugged Northern Ontario shores of Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

We always need help clearing trails, keeping the guidebook up to date, writing stories about trail adventures, etc. Please check the list of current needs or contact us if you can devote some time on or off the trail.

The VTA Trail Guide was updated in 2014. Get a copy from our online store or one of these stores.

In August 2016 we opened the newest section of the Voyageur Trail. We haven't updated the main trail map yet but here is a map of the Dear Lake Mountain Hiking Trails.

The Coordinating Council and a Strategic Planning Committee have been hard at work for the past year on a refreshed Strategic Plan for the VTA. A big thank you to those of you who provided feedback throughout the process. This past July, the Coordinating Council had a meeting dedicated to reviewing a final version of the Strategic Plan. The end result can be viewed here. We encourage you to take a few minutes and have a look.

We are excited to get started on the plan and believe we can accomplish many of its goals over the next few years. In fact, many of the initiatives outlined in the plan are already underway. We can always use help to achieve these goals as they are ambitious. We look forward to your involvement as we work towards the vision outlined in this plan.

AFTER A HIKE: It's important that we know how and why the trail is being used and by whom. Please complete our short survey after your hike. Voyageur Trail User Survey 2016
